ENSEMBLES
WIND SYMPHONY
The OHS Wind Symphony is the premiere band instrumental ensemble at Ola High School. The band performs nationally for collegiate concert festivals and consistently earns superior ratings at Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) every year. The group performs Level 6 literature (out of a 1-6 scale based on difficulty and demand sanctioned by Georgia Music Educators Association). The group is taught and conducted by Mr. Mike Bearden and is assisted by Mr. Joshua Singleton.
SYMPHONIC WINDS
The OHS Symphonic Winds is an advanced instrumental ensemble offered at OHS. The band performs 4 times a year and consistently earns superior ratings at Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) every year. The group performs Level 5 literature (out of a 1-6 scale based on difficulty and demand sanctioned by Georgia Music Educators Association). The group is taught and conducted by Mr. Joshua Singleton and is assisted by Mr. Mike Bearden.
SYMPHONIC BAND
The OHS Symphonic Band is an intermediate instrumental ensemble offered at OHS. The band performs 4 times a year and consistently earns superior ratings at Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) every year. The group performs Level 3-4 literature (out of a 1-6 scale based on difficulty and demand sanctioned by Georgia Music Educators Association). The group is co-taught and co-directeded by Mr. Mike Bearden and Mr. Joshua Singleton
JAZZ BAND
The OHS Jazz Band is a select ensemble of the finest players in the program. The group performs consistently throughout the year at school functions, band concerts, henry county events, and state-wide jazz festivals. Though the group is only comprised of saxophone, trombone, trumpet, drum set, guitar and keyboard; the jazz ensemble explores a variety of genres. The group is led by Mr. Joshua Singleton.
PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE
The Ola High School Percussion Ensemble is a combination of two classes offered year round at Ola High School. During the Spring semester these classes work in conjunction on literature composed exclusively for them (no band accompaniment). During the fall these two classes are primarily split up: marching battery (snare, tenor, bass drum) taking one class and the front ensemble (bells, chimes, etc.) taking the other.
